1. Colts won this weekend! The Indianapolis Colts defeated the NY Jets for the opportunity to go to Miami and compete in Superbowl #44. Their opponents will be the New Orleans Saints quarterbacked by none other that Purdue alum Drew Brees. It should be less clear who I will be rooting for. However, there is no doubt that I will be donning the blue and white and cheering for my Colts. I wish Brees and the Saints the best, but I hope they lose.
2. Today Apple released the "game changing" iPad. It seems to me that it is just a ipod touch that is too big to fit in your pocket. For all the hype this product has got it seems pretty lackluster. Don't get me wrong. It looks cool and I wouldn't complain if somebody gave me one. However I will not be running out to buy one when they go on sale. I am looking forward to see what they do with the iPhone this year. Maybe they will finally get me to drink the cool-aid and pony up the cash.
3. The 6th season of LOST starts in just 6 days. I could write pages about this television show, but I will keep it brief. There is no shortage of LOST content on the internet, so I thought I needed to add a little bit of my own. Over the course of the first 5 seasons the show has posed quite a few questions. At this point I have come to grips with the fact that they cannot, and will not, answer every single one of them. However, there are a few things that I need to know. If these things don't get solidly answered, then I will be pretty pissed. I am sure I will still love the show and remember it with fondness. But if a few of these major things don't get resolved I will never forget the injustice that LOST committed. Anyway, here is my list... in no particular order.
- What/who/why/where/how is the smoke monster? What is its origin/purpose/motivation?
- Who is Richard Alpert and why doesn't he age?
- Where did the the 4 toed statue come from? Where did it go? Why does it have 4 toes?
- What are the whispers all about?
- Where the hell is Claire?
- Is Christian Shepard alive? If yes... how? If no... then what is controlling him?
- How long has fake Locke been around?
- What is the deal with the numbers?
- Who is Jacob? What is the significance of him touching the "losties"? Is he good? Is the other dude bad?
- Who was on the Black Rock?
- Why can't they have kids on the island?
- What is in Hurley's guitar case?
- Why is Desmond special? Why don't the rules apply to him? Will he get back to the island?
- Who are Adam & Eve? (The skeletons they found in S1 in the cave with the black & white stones)
- What is the ultimate fate of our losties? Will they live/die?
- Are Sawyer and Super Kate going to end up boning happily ever after, or does Jack screw it up?
There are literally hundreds more questions that could possibly be answered in the final season. Those were the ones I could think of that seemed most important to me. Some of them will be easy to answer, and some will be significantly more complex. I am not hoping they will answer everything. I don't want them to wrap it up all nice with a big bow for us at the end. Sometimes things are better left to the imagination. I have so many theories of possible outcomes. I listen to freaking podcasts with people talking about what might be going on with LOST. Over the past couple years it has become a slight obsession of mine. One of the main questions I have will be answered next week. In the first episode of season 6 are we going to see flight 815 land safely in LA? I don't know how I will feel about that, but we don't have much longer to wait.
4. Lastly, President Obama is giving the state of the union speech tonight. This means that we will probably be watching a movie.
