Pure suction

I have no clue what my wife
was watching on tv.
This past week I fulfilled a lifelong dream of mine... to own a Dyson vacuum cleaner.  Well, maybe it wasn't life-long, but I did go through a stage in my early 20's where I was obsessed with stainless steel kitchen gadgets and other random household items. Okay, so maybe it wasn't a stage. Maybe I am still that way.

When the Dyson broke on the vacuum scene years ago I knew I wanted one. I also didn't think I would every spend more than $150 for a vacuum cleaner, let alone $500-$600 that the Dysons went for.  I bided  my my time. When we got the house I was ready to pull the trigger on a Dyson, but I got a good deal on a Bissell healthy home. It was a beast that served us well for the last 5 years.  However, the dirt bin closure broke months ago and I was sick of screwing with it.  (Yes, I am the one that vacuums our house.)

It's purple, like royalty.
There was  smoking deal on the Dyson Ball DC 25 Animal and I couldn't pass it up. I ran out out and purchased it almost on a whim, which is something I never like to do.  It is going to count as my birthday present. That is kinda lame for a guy isn't it.  Oh well. When the iPhone 5 comes out that will be my birthday present too.  Much more macho (or not).

We've had had the Dyson in all of its purple glory for a week now. At first it didn't feel as powerful as the Bissel, but that is partially due to the fact that the Bissel weighed 68 lbs. I hated vacuuming with that thing and it cornered like a dump truck. The Dyson is like a Porche zipping around the house. It seems to be doing a good job.

I only had buyer's remorse for a day or so, which is good for me.  I'm happy with my birthday present. I guess this is the type of stuff you get when you turn 29 years old. Though I would have been ecstatic with it for my 21st birthday too, but that's just because I was am a loser.
