Under Quarantine

So far 2013 has treated us well, but everything went off the rails a few days ago. Thursday night Amelia woke up and she was not a happy camper. She was up half the night. She would fall asleep and wake herself up crying a little while later.

I was exhausted all day at work on Friday, and things weren’t any better at home. Amanda was tired and Amelia was a mess. She definitely wasn’t the sweet little girl we are used to. In the afternoon Amelia’s eyes got all red and swollen and she started to get junk building up in the corners of them. Amanda decided to call the doctor.

After i got home from work we headed to the doctor. Amelia didn’t want to go. In the car she kept saying “I don’t need a checkup”. We got there around 6 and waited… and waited. The doc finally saw us and we found out Amelia had her first ever ear infection, as well as conjunctivitis. We got her prescription and headed to walmart to get it filled.

The ear infection explained why Amelia was having so much trouble sleeping. She didn’t get a nap on Friday and by the time we got home from running around she was tired. I was too. I fell asleep on our living room floor about 15 minutes after we got home.

Amelia was once again up half the night. Saturday morning she didn’t want to do anything… but by lunch time she was getting up, walking around and playing a little bit. By the afternoon she had glimpses of her old self. While Amelia was on the upswing, Amanda and I were going in the other direction. Amanda was getting a sore throat on Saturday and I had a headache and felt extremely tired. Mostly because I hadn’t had more than a couple hours of consecutive sleep for the past two nights.

Yesterday both Amanda and I got feeling worse. By the evening it was pretty clear I wouldn’t be going to work today. I had a fever most of the evening and all through the night. Amanda woke up today with a really bad sore throat and body aches. We both went to see the doctor. I have strep throat and he thinks Amanda is getting the flu.

All three of us are sick at the same time. That hasn’t happened before. We are all on prescription medication, and we are all grumpy and tired. It is probably best to steer clear of the Bidwell household right now.
