I felt compelled to write today seeing as I had not yet done so in the month. I didn't want to skip February altogether.
Instead of writing this month I was once again re-doing the site. I don't think I will ever stop messing with it. It seems pretty stupid to keep changing the backend code on a site I hardly ever post to, but that is how I roll.
I guess I have to give an Amelia update because... well, she is awesome. She is at the height of her imagination. We rarely are living in the real world. There is always some sort of pretend game going on. Every day is her birthday party. It is usually short and she is satisfied with getting unwrapped presents that consist of toys she already owns, but we are always sure to celebrate. Sometimes her birthday party is directly followed by my birthday party. I think she wants to make sure I don't feel left out. But only every other day or so.
Her new favorite thing is to go into her kitchen and poke her head out from behind the counter with her hands cupped around her mouth... "LUNCH TIME DADDY! Come on! Let's eat!" She usually makes some corn on the stove, or nukes some pizza in her "microphone". Then we have a spot of tea with honey and finish it off with some cookies. It is always "delicious" and "refreshing".
Our February was a lot of fun and games, but not all fun and games. Amelia and I have had a few standoffs. She is proving to be a very stubborn little girl. Last Friday she screamed and growled at me for over an hour while I tried to put her to bed. It was a battle of wills that I eventually won only because she fell asleep before she could continue yelling at me. It was the most patient I have ever been in my entire life. Even though she was very upset with me, I feel like we kind of bonded. We laughed about it the next day at McDonalds over a happy meal, so we are all good.
The bed-time angst and not sleeping through the night is the hardest part right now. It feels like we are always tired. At least I feel like I am always tired. For March I'm looking forward to *hopefully* getting some sleep.
