Last night we ordered some takeout from Pizza Hut and brought it home to eat and watch some basketball. As I sat there eating pizza and watching the NCAA tournament I remembered how Pizza Hut would have the crappy rubber basketball promotion around this time of year. It must have been in the early 90's, I'm not sure exactly. I just remember I HAD to have the annual Pizza Hut basketball. I searched online for a while, but nary a trace of these pizza inspired b-balls could I find. The only image of these balls I could find was on someone's blog. I am going to repost that picture here with a link to the site.The one on the left doesn't look all that familiar, but I can remember pining after the one on the right like it was yesterday. Once I obtained it I can remember dribbling it all over the place in my clumsy 8-11 year-old way. I'd like to imagine it was the first basketball that I successfully dribbled through my legs.
I remember there being many more than these 2 models. I know for a fact there was a "Big Ten edition" that had all the logos around it. That was probably regional, and would be even more difficult to dig up images online.
Who remember's these Pizza balls? Who had one/fifty? Who can find me some more images that I can get all nostalgic about?
