Today I got back from an awesome weekend in Las Vegas. Just last Monday I joined my new group at work, and by Thursday I was headed to Vegas. I got invited to attend the annual ops meeting, and I couldn't pass up the opportunity. It was great to meet all the people I will be working with from across the country. I'm really looking forward to it. It was the first time I've ever been to something like that. It was a great experience.
The trip also allowed for a couple other firsts that I've always wanted to do. We had a golf outing scheduled for Saturday morning at a desert course. You know, the ones where it goes from sand to lush green grass. I've always wanted to play at one, so I was super-excited to finally be able to. I didn't take my own clubs with me to Vegas, but that was okay. The rentals weren't horrible. I didn't hit it great to start out with, but I got in a groove after 5 holes or so. I was happy with how I played, I just couldn't make any putts. The day was so much fun and the weather was absolutely perfect.
Another thing that I've always wanted to do is bet on a major sporting event. With the final four games on Saturday evening it was the perfect opportunity. I wanted to put money on both Butler and UConn. Unfortunately I fell asleep after golf and didn't get down to the sports betting area in enough time to make my first bet. I would have won, which stinks. I put two bets on the second game and both of them panned out. It made it a lot more fun to watch the game. We were even able to get a table in the sports betting area and got drinks all night for playing. It was a lot of fun, and it made it even better that I won some money. I didn't have enough guts to bet big money, so I didn't win a ton. Still, it was a good time. Overall a wonderful weekend. I'm really thankful that I got the chance to go. Now it's time to catch up on sleep.
